What's up Vault Tellers, this is your host Kevin Talley with the Treasure Vault Podcast and I'm here to give you a synopsis on the full armor of God. I wanted to talk about this because we really live in a time where you have to be thoroughly equipped to handle any type of opposition, lies and deterrences from the truth that come against you. Like we live in a world where
No morals that are all time low. Values seem to be misplaced into things that don't matter or into things that are just destructive. So I just wanted to cover the full armor of God. to help you understand that God is not going to leave us hanging out here. He wants to make sure that we're covered and not just, we don't just have salvation, we have tools to
increase our effectiveness in living for him, to increase our motivation in knowing that we're protected. Like we don't have to worry about somebody trying to, like our enemies are defeated already. Our enemies have no power over us. So when we read the verses about full armor of God, just know that the goal of the armor is to do five different things.
The first goal of the armor is to protect you from the enemy, which I mentioned before, because, you know, Satan prowls around like a roaring lion looking to see who he's going to devour. And he's like a lion. He's not a lion. know, God's a lion, a Judah. He's already overcome the enemy. So don't worry about the fake lion, you know? And the second goal of the armor of God is to remind you of who you belong to. You know, we belong to God. And the third goal is to keep you free from fear.
When you're protecting armor, you don't have to worry about the arrows or the enemy coming to pierce you. The fourth goal is to keep you free from falling into sin. know, like when your mind is fixated on what God wants you to do and how he wants you to live, you're less inclined to fall into temptation. You don't believe lies and stuff. And the fifth goal, the fifth goal is to help establish your purpose. When you have on
If you notice when you like dress up a certain way, you know, you might dress up for work or you're dressed up to go to a wedding or like how you dress really changes your demeanor. It changes your mood and changes your thought process. Like when you're, when you dress to the nines, like you're more confident, you know, you feel like just feel, you know, more confident, more I'm looking to be seen today. Like when you, based on how you dress determines what you're about to do.
You're about to celebrate something or you're dressed for a funeral. You dress down and not try to draw too much attention to yourself because everybody's in a somber mood. So you're dressing for that. That's your purpose to mourn. You're dressing for a wedding. Your purpose is to celebrate. yeah, you want to dress really nicely because you want to leave a lasting good impression for the people who are getting married. Or if you're dressing to go to a sports game, your purpose is to cheer on your team. So you're going to wear your jersey.
Depending on how you dress determines how, depending on how you dress determines what you're about to do. It doesn't make sense. whatever you're about to do, I would like to dress for the occasion and not like, and not, it would just help me focus on that particular activity basically. So yeah, the armor of God can help you do those five different things. And so I'm gonna cover the verses on, know, cover the verses that talk about the armor of God. So if you go to,
Ephesians 6, 10 through 17. It says this, so. Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore, put on the full armor of God so that when the day of evil comes,
you may be able to stand your ground. after you have done everything to stand, and after you have done everything to stand, stand firm then with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one and take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit.
which is the word of God. Now, it mentioned different pieces of armor here. The first one they mentioned was the belt of truth, know, like the belt of truth wrapped around your waist. We had the belt of truth. If you notice that when the devil wants to tempt you with something, he has to come with a lie. He has to come with a ⁓ promise of fool's gold, like this right here.
gonna make you feel better temporarily but I'm not gonna tell you everything about how it's gonna destroy you because I want you to be destroyed. When you wrap yourself in the belt of truth it's hard to fall victim to Satan's lies you're gonna figure out like this isn't the right choice ⁓ sleeping with this person isn't the right choice doing this as a profession like I don't know you work for a tobacco company it's probably not a good profession like you probably don't want to work for them ⁓
You know, things like that, like the Belt of Truth will tell you, it will help you avoid things that are gonna lead you to your destruction as well as lead others to their destruction. Like, when you had the Belt of Truth, you only believed what's good for you. You don't believe the lies. You don't believe, you're not like Eve in the garden, you know, that you're not gonna believe the lies of Satan when he got her to bit, the fruit, and Adam as well. You're gonna believe what God says. You know, stay away from evil. You're gonna believe to,
you know, keep your mind focused on Christ. You're not going to, you're not going to sack. God would never require you to sacrifice the truth to worship him. He operates in the truth because we're required to worship him in spirit and in truth. So when we, when we try to eliminate truth, we're saying to God that, no, I'm going to do it my way. I'm not going to do it your way, which is not righteous. It's not the way God intended. He wants us to do it his way. He wants us to be in alignment with him based on
the rules of creation, which is the truth. So yeah, when you believe in the truth, you don't believe Satan's lies and you're really able to abstain from the temptations that he throws at you. And the second one, the second piece of armor, the breastplate of righteousness. So this is basically like, you you put on, like I said, you put on the clothing, it helps keep your, you put on the clothing for what you're about to do.
When you had the breastplate of righteousness, you don't wanna do anything wrong. You wanna be, I wanna be good. I wanna be, I wanna leave a good lasting legacy. I want a lasting impression that's gonna make people feel positive and inspired by the life that I live. The breastplate of righteousness is there to just remind you like, hey, be good. Never grow tired of being good. Be somebody that you would want to look up to. Like just.
You don't have to, God's letting you know that when, he's just giving you a formula for success. he wants you to be righteous because he knows the benefits that come with it. You don't have to worry about the guilt that comes with not being righteous. You don't have to worry about the guilt that comes from sinning, ⁓ leading somebody astray, having regrets, saying that, man, I wish I would have been a better role model or something.
Like with righteousness in place, you don't have to have those regrets. It reminds you to live pure, to live holy, to live for God. Just live it to please Him. He takes a lot of joy in seeing us live for Him, and we have the joy inside by doing so. And the third one, says, have your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.
You know, the gospel is there to encourage you. When you want to share the gospel, like you're ready. Just be ready to share the gospel at any given moment. Somebody might ask you, like, they might ask you just like, so what keeps you going? Like, what keeps you motivated? You can answer it that way. Like, God, Jesus Christ. I'm motivated by just the love that he gives me, the provision that he gives me, the peace of mind.
Yeah, the peace of the gospel is there. Like be ready, have your feet constantly ready to share the gospel at any given moment. Like it's worth it. It's not a burden. It's more like, you know, if I'm living for this every day, if I'm practicing living for it every day, I don't, it's not so much of a burden to me to share it. Like something that I'm about, you know, ask people about something they're interested in, right?
they're going to they're probably going to their eyes probably gonna light up and they're going to just give you a synopsis of this is the whole story of this particular topic because they like it so much. It's like, ⁓ they they they align a lot of their life towards that topic. Like they you just you just see how people light up when they're when they're inspired by something that they're really passionate about. And that's the same thing with when we have the gospel, like we we should be passionate. You know, our our excitement should go up when it's.
when it's about God, when we're living for it every day, when somebody talks about what they do for a living, the company that they own or what they're passionate about, you're gonna see the jovial demeanor with them. We should have that jovial demeanor when we share the gospel. We should have that readiness to share knowing the amount of peace that it gives us. people can be excited about something and still not have peace about it. No, it's like, oh, it's exciting. Like, well, do you feel fulfilled?
Well, they kind of changed the subject. But with us, we can be excited about sharing what we're living for as well as have the peace that comes from it. So it's a win win with us. know, it's a win win when you embrace the gospel. And also the next piece of armor says to show the faith. And this is kind of self-explanatory. And when you have faith, you know, first of all, we please God with faith.
And the shield of faith, naturally a shield is to protect you from an attack. And what does Satan attack you with? says, know, the shield, it can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. So what are the flaming arrows? The lies that Satan throws at you, the ⁓ financial stress, the drama breaking out around you amongst peers.
Any attack that he can think of, he's gonna try to throw at you, but you counter that wholeheartedly with the faith. Like you have faith knowing, first of all, faith promises us the victory in the end anyway. So when we live for Christ, we have the victory. So when you have faith, you don't even think about, well, of course you're gonna have good days and bad days, but you're not gonna give up, because you know that no matter what tragedy strikes,
I win in the end. Satan already lost. He lost his place in heaven. He's trying to kill us. Nobody cares about him. He's trying to destroy us because he's hating on us so badly. He doesn't want us to live in faith because he knows it's going to keep us motivated. It's going to keep us more passionate to share the gospel. It's going to keep us stronger. A faith-based community, man, it's unstoppable. Imagine a church that just lives for God, a community that just lives for God. Satan's biggest nightmare.
because marriages get healed because of that. ⁓ People were able to share resources, poverty gets alleviated, strife gets alleviated because people are not trying to take advantage of others, they're trying to build a community. ⁓ That faith, you put up that shield, like, man, Lord, handle this for me. Satan bothering me again, whatever, he trying to start something I already won, so I just put up the shield, boom, boom.
No arrows, none of the arrows hit me. And it might hurt a little bit, know, it might feel a little thud or it might, you know, it might be a little bit of a distraction, but it's an annoyance. You brush it off. like, can get the arrows off your shield and just keep going. Yeah, that faith is, the Bible says it's impossible to please God without faith because it's such a strong.
It's such a strong indication that you love God. If you can't trust your creator, who can you trust, honestly? When we trust God, we're showing that we have knowledge, we have wisdom, we have concern for our lives. We know that the person who created us did not make a mistake and that we can trust him. And it just naturally pleases God to do that, because he's the be-all, end-all. He's the beginning and the end.
The Alpha and the Omega, so we can trust Him And the last piece of armor is the helmet of salvation. And, oh, I'm sorry, messed that up. It's the one before the last one. So this is the helmet of salvation, right? The helmet of salvation is just a reminder. like, look, I'm saved. Boom, God marked me. I'm his. I ain't gotta worry about.
An identity crisis because I know I belong to God. know. Helmet helmet is guarding your head is guarding your brain, your thought process, your thought processes that you don't have to. Now you're not thinking about. What I'm trying to say. The things that you think about, you're thinking about victory, you're thinking about love, you're thinking about things that help you out.
Satan trying to hit you in your mind so if he can get you to come into agreement in your mind that something is bad, he can get you to sin based on what you think about it. He can get you to sin based on how you feel about it. When you feel some type of way in your brain about something, you can end up operating on the lie that he gave you and just end up destroying something.
With the helmet of salvation, not only are you protecting your mind, you're just reminding yourself that I'm saved. I am a creation made in God's own image. I don't have to worry about the misconceptions that come from the world, the flesh trying to go against God. Like, no, I'm his. The helmet protect my brain from lies, protect my brain from
false truth. I believe in the truth. believe in the gospel. I believe in loving living for God and loving him. And the last, the last piece of armor is the sword of spirit. And it says the sword of spirit, which is the word of God. Now this is powerful because it, I don't know if you notice, ⁓ I forgot where I heard this from, but I noticed it myself as well. The sword of spirit is the only offensive weapon, the only offensive piece of armor in that whole list.
We talk about shield. We're talking about a belt of truth. Helmet. Your feet, your feet equipped with the readiness to preach the gospel. We talked about. Yeah, the breastplate of righteousness, but the sword y'all the sword. It's like you're attacking with that. So who are you attacking the enemy, obviously? And one thing you got to know about the word of God.
Like Jesus countered Satan. When Satan tried to tempt Jesus, Jesus countered Satan with the word. The word is living, breathing. It's a weapon. It's stronger than Satan, obviously. It sends enemies scattered in multiple directions. When you resist the devil, he flees from you. You counter him with the word. The sword is meant to kill. It kills off whatever Satan's trying to throw at you. So when he...
We had a sword of spirit like think about the spirit of God that's in you, right? The spirit is the conqueror. The spirit is the victor. it's going to, it's fighting for you y'all. when you focus on the word, you speak the word to your situation, you're literally not just protecting yourself. You're destroying the devil's foundation. You're destroying his lies. He can't fight you. He can't. Not against the word, the word in the beginning, the word was God and the word was with God.
God is the word. So when you speak in the word against Satan, you're literally inviting God into the battle and God is like, boom, knock Satan out just like that. Like it's the only offensive piece of armor because you know, that's all you need. You need the word. You live by the word. come into agreement with the word. You meditate on the word. When you do that, the word is the foundation of your battle strategy. It is.
It is everything that you can imagine on helping you protect yourself. ⁓ and by the way, since we're talking about, know, it says to counter the enemy with the word, what scriptures can we use against the enemy? Well, let's go to James 4.7. It says, submit yourselves then to God, resist the devil and he will flee from you. Think about that for a second, y'all. It says the devil will flee from us.
You don't run from somebody you're not afraid of, right? The devil is so weak towards God that he is required to flee from God's children when we aren't giving him any attention. You don't run from what you're not afraid of. So Satan is beyond scared. Like he's running. Like when God's power shows up, Satan has to say, I'm out. Cause he can't handle it. He can't do nothing against God's word. He can't do nothing against God's presence. He's going to cower away. He's going to flee.
We resist him, he flees, that's a spiritual law. He has to leave us because he can't do nothing with us. We're not believing his temptation, we're not believing his lies. He's gonna have to leave when he realizes we're not trying to mess with him. He hates that, but guess what? He can't do nothing about it because he has to flee. He can't do nothing against God's word. And you go to Luke 10, 16 through 20. Whoever listens to you listens to me. Whoever rejects you rejects me, Jesus, ⁓ God talking.
But whoever rejects me rejects him who sent me. The 72 returned with joy and said, Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name. He replied, I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy. Nothing will harm you. However, do not rejoice that the spirit submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven. And we look at verse 19.
God gave us the authority to trample over Satan. We're not even really fighting the devil. are trampling, we're stomping on him. Like, when we had the word of God, think about this. God can stop a raging storm with just one word. He can tell it to stop. He can tell a mountain to move with just his word. Like, he can do anything. He speaks, like, he created everything with words. So.
when we like y'all just understand how weak Satan is. One entity, like he's just that one entity that he embodies hatred. He knows how much he messed up. He knows he can't be in the position that humans are in. So he's gonna do everything he can in his hatred to try to stop humans from reaching the salvation that God so freely gave us in his son, Jesus Christ. He hates that so much that we have
what he used to have, but he was too stupid because he thought he was bigger than God. And he literally, can't, he can't be forgiven for his sins because he was fully aware of God's righteousness and he just hating us. He's hating us. That's all he can do. He can't harm us. Like he has, we stumped, we trample over scorpions and snakes. God stumps on Satan. When we align ourselves with God's word, we stumping on him. It ain't no war. It is a straight up boom. Like we.
Get out of here, like we stumping on the devil. y'all just, this should be, the full armor of God should encourage you. I know life gets tough. I'm not saying life is easy. You're gonna have bad days. You're gonna have awful days. But that confidence of just being covered in his armor, covered in God's armor, you're gonna make it. Just keep going. Keep repenting, keep praying.
It's going to get better. So it's going to your life is going to have purposes. You win. You win in the end. You have the eternal life. You have the legacy that you crave, a legacy that doesn't die out with what's popular or or. You know, the legacy is not it's not attached to what's popular. Your legacy is attached to something that can't die. God's approval. So, yeah, let's let's just focus on knowing that
we have victory over Satan period. if you go to Romans, again, we're fighting the devil with the word. if you go to Romans 8, 31 through 39, it says, what then shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own son, but gave him up for us all, how will he not also along with him, graciously give us all things?
Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Y'all, it's the creator of all things. I'm telling you, the creator of everything justified you in Christ Jesus. That gives you an ample amount of reason to have confidence and have peace of mind. And verse 34, who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died more than that, who was raised to life is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written, for your sake we face death all day long. We are considered as sheep to be slaughtered. No, in all these things we are more than conquerors in him who loved us, more than conquerors. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth.
nor anything else in our creation will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
It's a lot to unpack. Let's just think about this for a second. What's a conqueror y'all? Think about what a conqueror is. The Bible says we're more than a conqueror. Now, if you look at the definition of a conqueror, go to Webster's dictionary. The definition of a conqueror is, oh, I'm sorry. This is the, it means to conquer. So.
What does mean to conquer according to Webster's dictionary? It says to acquire by force of arms, win in the war, to overcome by force or subdue, to gain, win or obtain by effort, personal appeal, et cetera. To gain a victory over surmount master overcome.
You have all those things that align that come into agreement with victory by total victory. The Bible says we're more than that. We we we're more than a flawless victory in a fight. We are literally.
What should we fear? Like, are you more than a conqueror? Like, a conqueror is a winner. Like, a conqueror, your enemy is slain. Your enemy can't say nothing about you. He can't do nothing to you. He's dead. Your enemy is gone. We're more than that. We're more than a conqueror. We're more than a person who slayed his enemy. We have so much victory in Christ Jesus, it ain't even funny. Like, we should not fear anything. Whom shall we fear? Just think about that. Who are we supposed to be afraid of when
Not only are we guaranteed a victory, we're really not even in the fight. God is fighting for us. We activate God through believing and walking in his word. Period. Notice the t-shirt, my secret weapons, my secret place. Go to God in your secret place and pray to him. you get, shout out to Fruit Over Phonics for this t-shirt. Will you counter the enemy with the word? Man, you...
Y'all just don't know it. Just give God a chance. Not test God, but just believe in Him. Trust Him to fight every battle. Spiritual battles, financial battles. When you align yourself with Him, you might spend some time in the wilderness. But God was with Jesus in the wilderness when Satan tried to tempt Him. God is everywhere. He's not gonna leave you when you are marked as His child. He's not gonna leave you.
And lastly, if you go to Psalm 27.1, y'all probably heard this song before. You the Lord is my light salvation. Whom shall I fear? Whom shall I be afraid? And I can't sing, but yeah, says the Lord is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? You're more than a conqueror, y'all. The Lord is the stronghold of my life. Whom shall I be afraid?
That's it. The armor of God is to show you that you have nothing to fear. You're saved in Christ Jesus. You have a promised victory. You're loved, you're protected, you're provided for. You had the weapons of the word of God. You're gonna win. You're guaranteed the victory. You're guaranteed to come out on top. You're guaranteed to come out unscathed. The smoke behind you from where the enemy died. You came out, you know.
God's child, good, you know, so.
Y'all just had that peace of mind knowing that we had the victory. That's all it's about. That armor is what you equip yourself with to walk in that victory that's already a promise for you. It makes life so much easier. Believe in the word, meditate on the word, walk in the word. You're gonna be fine. The devil's not gonna stop attacking you because he's trying to look for any loophole he can find, any chink in the armor that he can find.
He can't win. He can probably try to distract, but nope, you got the helmet of salvation. Boom, your mind is protected. You have intercessory prayer, your family's protected. You have a proper perspective on who Christ is, God's right-hand man, now that he's conquered death. And he's your advocate, the creator of all things, he's your advocate.
You can't lose. You should not fear anything. You have the power. just just have that have that comfort. God loves us so much. He's the ultimate judge. He does punish sin. But thanks be to Christ Jesus that he stepped in and saved us from our sins. So I just just want you to know, whatever you if you don't take anything else from this video, take this. ⁓ Christ Jesus died for our sins. He's our Lord and Savior.
All you gotta do is trust in him, believe in him, and change your mind. Change your mind about the world. The world is futile. ⁓ Come into agreement with what God says about you. You're his beloved. The numbers of hairs on your head are counted. He cares about you that much. His thoughts about you are innumerable. Is that a word? Countless. His thoughts about you are countless. Man, he...
He's our ultimate father. just, just have that confidence. Accept Christ, accept Christ into your heart. Live for Him. It'll change everything. Your fulfillment will come. And that's all I had to say about, you know, full armor. And if you're feeling this, subscribe to the channel and we're gonna have more content like this. We're have some interviews coming up and you know, just keep on, keep on tuning in. You won't be disappointed. And I hope you like, hopefully you like me.
